Chapter 5: Where on the world we are? (part 9)

“It’s too long. Where did you go?” squealed Amelinda. She was impatient. “You said that you only went in short time but it has been noon now.” she added. Her voice was still high.
“It’s because of them.” said Gwen grinning. He moved toward her, put his bag down, opened it and showed her yellow oranges inside.
“Where do you get them?” squealed Amelinda.
“In forest.” Gwen answered, “We found many orange trees there and spend time to pick them. They are planted by someone. Oranges are sweet and succulent”
“It also didn’t take you much time like that.”  Amelinda spoke.
“Yes, it’s not all.” said Heraccles calmly, “We found some paths there and decided to follow them and take a look. One of them is very long. I think it’s the path leading cross this forest.”
“Are you sure that the path leading cross the forest.” said Amelinda quickly.
“No, I’m not sure but I believe.” said Heracles. “I and Gwen did explore it about half an hour but we can’t ensure the thing.” he added.
“Amelinda.” cried Gwen suddenly he just remembered the thing he needed to talk to her, “Can you believe it that you can meet a centaur here inside forest?” said Gwen in tone.
“What? A centaur?”cried Amelinda. She seemed not to believe in her ears, rounded her eyes staring at Gwen.
Gwen had a bit surprise at her reaction. “Yes--” he said shortly.
“We saw it when we were by the stream. When Gwen was taking water in his water-skin and I was standing on the shore looking around, it silently hid itself after bush at the other shore. I think it observed us.” said Heracles thoughtfully. “This place is not wild.” he added.
“Yes, you’re right but what interests me now is that whether you could converse with the centaur or not.” said Amelinda,
“No, we couldn’t. It left before we could reach on it.” said Heracles with a little disappointment in his voice.
“We chased after it but we could catch its shadow it vanished. However, instead of it, we see the path.”
“You mean that the centaur led you to the path?” said Amelinda, raised her voice.
“No, I didn’t mean it.” Gwen quickly refused.
“It also could happen - Gwen. I think the centaur did observed us and attracted our attention on purpose.” said Heracles in deep voice.
“You two are serious?” said Gwen hesitantly. His eyes innocently took on Gwen and Amelinda.
“Yes,” said Amelinda, “You must know that all centaurs don’t like to appear in front of people; they will never do it if they don’t have any reason.”
“However, forget it. I have to let you both know one thing that I found out in the time you were absent. Look at them.” she added, turned her eyes looking to bees flying around. Heracles and Gwen followed Amelinda’s hint watching on bees a while then turned back looking at her they didn’t understand what Amelinda meant.
“What do you want to tell us?” said Heracles curiously.
“Do you realize it that the bees are special?” asked Amelinda.
“No, I don’t. They are only normal bees.” said Gwen honestly.
“They are honey bees.” said Amelinda mysteriously.
“It means --” added Heracles. He frowned looking at her.
“The honey bees were bred. It means they belong to someone people must live somewhere around here.” she explained, “I guess they live in the other side of this forest. I see the honey bees fly from the direction.”
“And if we cross this forest, we will meet people living in the other side.” said Gwen.
“Yes, we will.” said Amelinda with a smile on her face.
Both Heracles and Gwen smiled their faces were relaxed. They really felt happy because at last they knew that this place was not wild someone lived there in the other side. What they need was only to get pass the forest, met the people and asked them to help them leave this place turning their home.
“Ha ha.” Gwen couldn’t prevent him not to laugh, “We will come back home.” he said excitedly.
“Yes, we will.” Amelinda added.
“But, we have to fill our stomachs first.” said Heracles. His stomach rolled up.
“Yes, you’re right.” said Gwen. He smiled widely.
A fire was created. Gwen took out his kitchenware and started preparing the lunch. He turned busy with fire, pan, oil and spices. Heracles and Amelinda couldn’t help him much they sat on the trunk eating some oranges and observing he did. Gwen also asked them to help him a bit after that but he almost did everything. Half an hour later, their lunch was cooked. Gwen helped Heracles and Amelinda to have their servings on plates and then helped him to have another serving. They sat around the fire enjoyed their servings about half another hour. When the lunch finished, they kept staying outside talking a while. Later, Amelinda stood up made her way into their tent to rest while Heracles and Gwen stayed still outside. Instead of sitting on the trunk, Heracles and Gwen sat on grasses their back leaned against it. Gwen’s back completely rested on the trunk, his head laid on it and his face turned up to sky looking white clouds passing on their heads.
“I still want to come to Treasure Island. I really want.” Gwen stressed.
“I know.” said Heracles calmly, “But, we have to escape this place first.”
“Anyway,” said Gwen, “I don’t think we have the chance to go there if we come back.” Gwen was not very happy.
“We must go back home.” said Heracles decisively, “Amelinda is with us. We can’t bring Amelinda to danger more. We will go to Treasure Island later, when we can complete control the shifting-circle.”
“You’re right.” said Gwen, “Hope we can have some help from the other side of forest and come back home in safe.”
The place turned in silence Heracles and Gwen didn’t speak. Both of them turned in their thought. Cool winds brought smell of grass and flowers pass. It made them feel comfortable and peace. They slowly fell in sleep.
