Chapter 5: Where on the world we are? (part 10)

Winds blew harder and turned cooler in afternoon. One cold wind swept on Heracles’s face and made him wake up. He opened his eyes, managed to sit up then turned the side to see his friend. His friend, Gwen that moment had slipped off the trunk and completely lied on ground. His body shrank because of the cold. Heracles raised his hand up, reached on Gwen’s shoulder. He shook it.
“Gwen,” he called, “Wake up. Don’t sleep on ground.”
Gwen’s body moved. He woke up and realized that he was lying on ground. Immediately he sat up. “Why do I lie on ground Heracles?” he squealed.
“I don’t know. You must slip off the trunk when you sleep.” said Heracles.
“It must…”said Gwen, nodding. He raised his head, looked far away and suddenly saw a familiar figure standing between standing stones. “Ahh! Is it Amelinda.” he spoke up.
“Yes, she is.” said Heracles. His eyes rested on Amelinda’s back.
“What is she doing there?” Gwen squealed, “Go and see what she is doing.” he added and immediately stood up, moving toward the standing stones. Heracles went with him.
When Amelinda woke up, Heracles and Gwen were sleeping. Therefore she let them slept then walked alone to the standing stones to observe more. She was too focused on observing standing stones, not to know that Heracles and Gwen were going to her.
“What are you doing here.” said Gwen suddenly. It startled Amelinda. She turned back with one hand putting on her chest. “God!” she lamented, “You scare me, Gwen.”
“I’m sorry.” said Gwen, giving her a weak smile. “But, what are you doing here?” he added, lowered his voice.
“I am decoding the symbols. They are not decorative patterns. I think it is related to ancient magic.” said Amelinda.
“Are you serious?” said Heracles.
“Yes, I am.” answered Amelinda.
“So did you discover anything?” Gwen asked.
“Not much. I just try to remember their arrangements. I think it will be useful for us after that.” she said.
Gwen turned to the standing stone near him most, looking at symbols on it. “Ancient magic.” he muttered. “I think I should watch them a bit.” he added. Then he made his way approach to the standing stone he focused on symbols as Amelinda did. Heracles didn’t have much curiosity with the symbol because magic was not his strength. However, he didn’t have anything to do so he headed to Gwen, stood by him observing. Amelinda also went and stayed by them. Later, she left he went straight to their tent. The standing stone Heracles and Gwen was watching was the last standing stone Amelinda needed to see. She did remember all symbols on the others and the last she only need few minutes to remember. Heracles and Gwen on other side were not as intelligent as Amelinda. Therefore, they couldn’t remember arrangement of symbols on the standing stones. They spent much time at the place but they didn’t get much, only see some shapes, lines, circles not the symbol of Olympians they seemed to responsible for connecting everything on standing stones and including whole the standing stone circle. They kept staying there a bit time more but that’s all thing they realized so they stopped and turned back their tent. The moment, Amelinda was sitting on the trunk. With a notebook and a quill she was writing. She was the person who like to write and will note everything she wanted to remember. It’s also one of the ways helping her be the most intelligent girl in Hippocoon land.
“You got it?” said Heracles. He stopped by Amelinda looking on her notebook which interlaced pictures of the standing stones were drawn and many notes were written beside.
“Yes, I got.” Amelinda answered still focused on her notebook. She wrote few more words then stopped. She closed her notebook, then raised her head looked on Heracles on Gwen. “Do you discover anything?” she asked.
“Honestly, we don’t find much.” Gwen said quickly. “What’s about you?” he added.
“I’m also like you not able to find out mystery of standing stones but I have a firm belief that the standing stones relate to an ancient magic I remember them in my mind and also sketched inside my notebook. Think one day I can find out the mystery.” said Amelinda.
“I know you will find it.” said Heracles.
“I’ll try.” she said, a gently smile on her face. Then her eyes took out of Heracles looking away to the big red sun which was upon the sea. “It will turn dark soon.” she said thoughtfully, “We should have dinner soon. I will turn back and help you.” Amelinda hurriedly broke in their tent. She found the way to her bag, put her notebook in then immediately walked out. When she went out, Heracles and Gwen had set a fire. It seemed colder outside winds from the sea brought cold air to inland. Heracles was helping Gwen to prepare their dinner. She quickly strode to them and helped Gwen a hand. The meal was cooked after that. When it was completed, the place had been covered by darkness. It turned much colder when the sun vanished. Heracles and Gwen had to turn back in the tent, put on cloaks before their dinner started. Amelinda sitting on the trunk waiting for them she had had her cloak on her body one she went to put her notebook in her bag. Heracles and Gwen appeared right after that. They all had warm dinner by flickering fire.
“Do you think how much time we need to pass this forest?” said Gwen.
“It’s about one or two days but also can be more. I don’t know exactly but we have to go.” said Heracles.
“Though, I believe that the walkway will lead us pass the forest.” said Gwen firmly.
“Hope your belief can turn true.” said Amelinda, “Though, we have no choice. We have to leave as soon as we can. Tomorrow, we will go.”
“You’re sure that you want to go tomorrow.” said Heracles seriously, “I can not talk where the walkway lead us to. Should we check it before to go?”
