Chapter 4: The lyre professor (part 2)

“What are you doing here Heracles?” a cold voice spread out behind them as they were striding pass a lobby. They turned back and saw Professor Linus. He hurriedly caught up to them.
“Professor.” said Heracles and Gwen.
“What are you doing here Heracles?” said Profesor Linus, looked at Heracles
“We are just wandering professor.” said Gwen.
“I don’t ask you Gwen.” Linus raised his voice, turned to Gwen then turned back Heracles.
“We just go around professor.” said Heracles.
“Heracles and including you Gwen I have remind you that not all of places in this castle you are allowed to come. You both nearly step on one of them.” said Linus, “If you want to come to your classroom, turn back keep going down. Or if you want to get back your family dorm, turn back find the way to turn left then keep going down. Remember I don’t have much time to look after you. If I see you here one more time, I will take five points from each of you.”
Linus strode off leaving Heracles and Gwen there. “Do you see it?” said Heracles, “I hate me.”
“Yes, he is keeping an eye on you.” said Gwen.
Heracles and Gwen hurriedly left the place but they didn’t turn back their building. They found the way to castle hall and got on the ground in front of the castle. Accidentally, they saw a shape of an acquaintance, a huge man who was leaving from the castle. They kept distance following him. The led them toward the edge of the forest. There stood a wooden house. He opened the door then walked in the wooden house, not forget to close it. Heracles and Gwen hurriedly approached the house, made their way to look through the door.
“Come in.” a voice spread out, “I know you follow me.”
Heracles pushed open the door the he and Gwen walked in. “Hi Roger.” said Heracles. He and Gwen grinned widely.
“Hi Heracles and Gwen,” Roger replied.
“So you live here?” said Heracles.
“Yeah, I lived here.” said Roger. The corners of his mouth twisted. Heracles could see him smile after his beard.
“This is nice place.” said Gwen.
“Thank you Gwen.” said Roger warmly, “Honestly, I don’t think we’ll meet again so soon.”
“That’s why you did say us that we would meet soon. It because you stay here in Hippocoon.” said Gwen while he and Heracles made their way to sit on a small table with some lovely chairs around.
“That’s right Gwen.” said Roger. His edge of mouth twisted again, “Do you both want anything to drink?  Do you like herbal tea?”
“Please give me some water.” said Gwen.
“And you Heracles.” said Roger, turned to him.
“A cup of water please.” said Heracles.
“Wait me a little.” said Roger. He left the living room, strode to his kitchen. “Where is Amelinda? She must stay with you.” Roger’s voice echoed out.
“She is in our dorm.” Heracles answered him. He kept silent a while then added “I don’t understand Roger why you know that we will come to Hippocoon.”
“It’s not difficult to discover Heracles.” said Roger. He appeared bringing a tray where two cup of water, a teapot and a plate of cake were set. He laid the tray on table, hinted them to have some cakes. “Some things only can belong to Hippocoon and space ring is one of them. I realized you have space rings. No ordinary person owns space ring but in Hippcoon they seem to be ordinary objects that everyone can have it if they have enough money.”
“I don't think you meticulously observed us like that.” said Heracles.
Roger smiled. “It’s not difficult to realize it. They are valuable things that those who know enough will recognize it.” said Roger, “Although not as expensive as the scepter, they are quite expensive because space spell is a high level magic and not only a spell is used on a space ring. Each ring needs many of spells upon it.”
“You mean Ham has given us valuable things. I told about Ham, the scepter maker, who has given us space rings” squealed Gwen.
“Indeed, it’s.” said Roger,
“But, it’s only gifts and he actually gave it to us.” said Gwen
“I completely don't understand his purpose in giving you a gift. He was a quiet and confusing person. However, the space rings are great presents. Just use it.” said Roger.
“There had some problem with me and I planned to ask some professors but I still don’t have chance.” said Heracles, “I can not call my scepter out from my scepter. Do you meet the problem Gwen?”
“Let me try it. Honestly, I forget my scepter from the time we left All-for-you shop.” said Gwen. He grinned widely.
“God, I also can not.” cried Gwen, “How can we study magic without our scepter.”
“Do you know how, Roger?” added Gwen turned to Roger.
“Do your scepters have their own names?” said Roger thoughtfully.
“Why do they need to have names?” said Heracles quickly, “They are items.”
“God,” cried Roger, “I think Ham has forgotten to tell you all something important. Have ever thought why scepters chosen people they wanted but not people choosing them? It’s because each of scepter has its own thought and personality. They need to have names. If you don’t do, you can not use it.”
“Let go out and try something.” added Roger, “It’s better for you to do outside.
Roger stood up first, hinted them to go out with him. Heracles and Gwen caught the chance putting tough cakes back on the plate. They hurriedly stood up, followed Roger to the forest edge. It’s green lawn there. Heracles and Gwen stood facing to Roger.
“Just a little curious, what are your scepters made of?” asked Roger.
“A blood of dragon and he’s a blood of griffin.” said Heracles.
“Nice materials,” said Roger, “But, it’s also more difficult to name your scepters. The names need to accept by them. Let tried it.”
“Gwen, your scepter is made of griffin’s blood, right? Let try to think about something related to them griffin, wind or sky. It may useful.” he added.
“Yeah, let me try.” said Gwen. He raised his ring hand in front of himself with the hand grasping half.
“Griffin.” he cried but nothing happened. “Try it again.” said Roger.
“Griffor, Wind Griffin, Sky Griffin, Windlord…” Gwen continued giving his scepter other names. It nearly took him a quarter of hour.
“Wind Riding” cried Gwen at last. Suddenly, his scepter appeared on his hand. Its crystal ball lit up. “I did it.” cried Gwen happily. He looked at Roger and Heracles grinning and made drops of sweat on his forehead side down.
