Heracles and Gwen met Amelinda again the next morning. It was a pretty nice and cool morning. They all stayed behind Castle Methonia in a lawn. The members of other families were also here. They gathered in small groups talking and waiting for their flight professor.
“What did you go? I had found you in family library but I didn’t see you.” squealed Amelinda.
“We came to community library.” said Gwen.
“Community library; why did you come there?” Amelinda asked again.
“We came to borrow books for this term. Our family library no longer has the books we need.” said Heracles calmly.
“So, you went to the community library yourselves?” asked Amelinda.
“No, we didn’t. Our family librarian, Alethea told us to come there. She said there was the place we could get the book.” said Heracles.
“We are sorry because we did tell before we left.” added Gwen.
“Nob – I'm just curious where you went.” said Amelinda.
“Hey Heracles!” Gwen suddenly spoke up. He shook his shoulder lightly. “Look! Is there Iphicles?” he added.
Both Heracles and Amelinda turned. Away from them few steps gathering with Herathyias there were Iphicles and his best friends, Adapter and Volograd. They look outstanding among the crowd. “What happened to him? He looks different.” he added. “Do you know what happened to him?” asked Gwen, turned to Heracles.
“Donnu,” Heracles answered, still kept looking on his brother. Iphicles’s appearance really changed to much. From a tall, thin and weak boy he changed to a strong and athletic guy. Even Heracles felt surprised as he saw. “He probably practiced a lot during the holidays.” said Amelinda.
Heracles turned, looked on Amelinda. “Maybe,” he said shortly then turned and continued looking on his brother. Suddenly, Iphicles turned and caught his eyes. He looked on him for seconds then turned away, continued talking with his friends. Heracles also took his eyes off him after that. Few minutes later, their flight professor still didn’t come. Instead, Professor Genevieve and Professor Fidelma appeared. “Everyone, focus!” said Professor Genevieve. All of them fell silent. They turned and gathered to them. “For some reason you flight professor can not come here. Therefore, we will replace him this lesson.” she said. “First, we need you to get acquainted with winged shoes here.” she added, turned aside, hinted to pairs of winged shoes they brought to and laid on ground. “I need some first. Come and put on winged shoes.” she said, her eyes scanning on them.
“Let us.” a voice coming out from in middle of the crowd. Hank was the one who spoke. He and some Aresians made their ways go forwards. “Professor Fidelma, help me give those boys winged shoes.” said Professor Genevieve, turning to her fellow.
“Yeah, Professor Genevieve; boys come here.” said Professor Fidelma gently. Hank and the others approached her and then she gave them pairs of winged shoes. They got the shoes, bent down to put on then stood up straight. They all stayed in row facing to others. Professor Genevieve turned. She walked along them, looked on their young faces. “You all got in winged shoes, yet?” asked Professor Genevieve.
“Yes, we did.” they answered.
“Okay, listen to me carefully. Some may have used winged shoes. Some may know how to use it but some have never seen or have never reached on them before. Therefore, I have to here to make sure that all of you hear and understand what I say right now. The winged shoes are the best things created. They are imitated the shoes of god Hermes which help him move from Mount Olympus to anywhere on the world, even the Underground. Of course, our winged shoes can not bring us to the Underground but to help us fly. They are very easy and also very hard to use. First, you have to know how to boot them. Hank, help me to model.” said Professor Genevieve.
“Yes, Professor.” said Hank. He stepped forward a step.
“Everyone look at him.” said Professor Genevieve, turned back to others then she turned again to Hank. “Do you know how to boot them?” she asked.
“Yes, I know Professor.” Hank answered.
“Do it.” she said.
Hank kicked the ground slightly. Heracles watched carefully. Each wing on each shoe Hank wore fluttered slightly then slowly he was brought up above the ground one step and stayed in there.
“Good job, boy.” said Professor Genevieve then she turned back, “Did you all see him?” she added, “To boot winged shoes you have kick on the ground, not to strong and also not to light. The thing Hank did very well. Next, you must learn to keep balance on winged shoes as though Hank is doing.”
Hank’s limps moved smoothly. It seemed impossible to stay still in midair. His hands and feet had to move to get balance. Though, Heracles felt it was quite easy.
“Hank, try flying a bit.” spoke up Professor Genevieve.
“Yes, professor.” Hank said. Then he lent forward. His one foot kicked slightly the air. Hank flew up. He made a circle above others’ heads then turned back his first position and kept balance there. “Good job, boy. Thank you very much.” said Professor Genevieve, giving him a smile. “Others may begin. Try flying up and balancing in the air first.” she said then turned to Hank. “You can get back.” she added.
“Yes, professor.” said Hank. Stretching feet he got lower then at least he reached on ground. Hank took off winged shoes then walked back his place. His fellows kept staying. They were requested to keep balance for a few minutes. They easily did it then got back their places. The others were requested to try it in turn. Gwen was the one who turned excited most.
“I can't wait for my turn.” he said impatiently, still staring on others who were using winged shoes. Others continued madding their way go and try on. Some could do it well in the first time but some were diffident and they had to try two, three or more times. Avery was one of the people. As soon as he stepped up, he looked confused. His face went red because of embarrassment. He was a lack of confidence and a coward. Busy looking around he didn’t heard Professor Genevieve to kick on ground.
