“They forgot their books at dorm, professor.” squealed Amelinda.
“I don’t ask you, Amelinda.” he snapped.
“We forgot them, professor.” said Heracles in whispered voice.
“Are you kidding me, boys.” said Professor Linus, “You came to my class and forgot your books. What do you come here for? Get out.” he shouted, “I take ten points from your family. Don’t return my class unless you get your books.” All eyes were on them. Heracles and Gwen stood up then made their way leave. Others’ eyes followed them. “Don’t pay attention to the losers. Back to your lesson.” said Professor. Heracles could hear it clearly as he passed the door. He and Gwen kept walking. They stopped outside empty room few steps away from their class. “Should we come to our family library and borrow books for this term?” asked Gwen.
“We will come there as we turn back. Now, I want to go to another place.” Heracles said.
“Where do you want to go?” squealed Gwen curiously.
“Roger’s house.” said Heracles, “I don’t know why but since I received this key I always want to come. I like something is calling me.” he added, pulled the key out from his pocket the gave it to his friend. Gwen took it, observed awhile. He turned to Heracles. “Oh, I don't see anything strange from it.” Gwen spoke up.
“There don’t have any problem with the key. What I want is coming to his house.” said Heracles.
“Okay, I will go with you.” said Gwen.
They walked. Minutes later, Heracles and Gwen appeared in front of Castle Methonia. Pass the pasture they came to Roger’s house staying silently by the forest’s edge. They both approached. The door and windows all were closed. Heracles inserted the key into the lock, turned. The click sounded. Heracles opened the door. He and Gwen walked in. It’s quite dark inside. They made their way pull curtains aside. Sunlight went through windows coming in the house. Everything remained in their place. Only Roger was not there. Heracles watched around. “What are you looking, Heracles?” Gwen spoke up. “I don’t know.” said Heracles. His eyes still scanned entire the living room. “There is nothing strange here.” Gwen spoke up. Heracles didn’t reply. He made his way to the kitchen. “Where are you going?” asked Gwen. “I come to other rooms and take a look.” answered Heracles. He went straight to the kitchen. It’s also gloomy there. The house was too different as Roger didn’t stay. Heracles looked around but he didn’t find anything strange. There were only familiar things which were used every day. A fire place at one side of the kitchen had cooled. A wooden table and some elbow chairs were arranged at middle of the kitchen. Pans and pots were hanging on the wall upon the fireplace. Many dried herb bunches were on the lines above their heads. Heracles didn’t know exactly they were but their scent always made him feel good. Roger had wall-mounted cabinet which he stored his jars of spices, dishes, knives, forks and some stuff. It’s not hung, only higher on Heracles’s head a bit. After looking around, Gwen pulled a chair out then sat down. “What exactly are you finding, Heracles?” he lamented.
“I don’t know. Just only feel that Roger left something here. That’s why he sent the key to us.” said Heracles. He managed to the table, took a chair and sat across from his friend. “I’ve thought you know something.” said Gwen.
“No, I haven’t. It’s just my feeling.” said Heracles. He looked at the wall-mounted cabinet. Suddenly, he caught the light. Something was placed on the top of the wall-mounted cabinet. He stared but the light had disappeared. “Gwen, something there.” he said. “Where?” Gwen spoke up. He turned back at one. “What did you see, Heracles? I don’t see anything there.” squealed Gwen.
“Wait a moment. I will take it.” said Heracles. He stood up, walked straight to the wall-mounted cabinet. Under dim light, Heracles could see something pretty big there. However, he didn’t know what exactly it was. He stood on tiptoes, reached his hand on the top of wall-mounted cabinet and started groping. His hand reached deeper and deeper. At last, he touched on something round. Heracles grabbed on it. “Ouch!” he cried. He pulled his back at one. He looked on his palm. A small tooth mark appeared on his index finger. A drop of blood slowly poured out from it. “What’s going on?” asked Gwen.
“I don’t know. It likes something just bit me.” said Heracles. He reached up again. That time nothing happened. Heracles pulled down a black cloth bag. “What’s this?” squealed Gwen excitedly.
Heracles brought the back to the table, put it down then he opened it. Gentle light came out from the pocket. “This is,” Gwen spoke up.
“Oh, it is.” said Heracles. Inside the pocket was the gem on the Hydra dragon. It’s the only thing remaining after burning its body. However, the moment it looked like a big egg. “Why does Roger keep the thing in his house?” said Heracles. He took it completely out from the pocket. Suddenly, he felt it throbbed. It liked a heat beat. However, it just happened one time the gem turned quiet right after that. Accidentally, Heracles’s bleeding finger touched on it. It throbbed again. His blood quickly seeped inward and disappeared at one. “Oh, this stuff sucks my blood.” he exclaimed.
“No way.” squealed Gwen.
“It is real.” said Heracles. He dropped on drop of blood on the gem. It immediately seeped inward and disappeared. “What’s up? Why does the thing eat your blood?” claimed Gwen.
“I don’t know. It's like a living being.” said Heracles.
“It was really weird.” said Gwen. “Let me try to feed it.” said Gwen. He by someway took out a needle and stuck it into his finger. Blood came out. He raised his finger upon the gem. His blood dropped down on it. However, it’s not like what they thought. Gwen’s blood slid out from the gem’s surface and down on the wooden table. “What’s wrong with it? Why it doesn’t eat my blood?” he exclaimed. Heracles also felt strange. “Let me try again.” Heracles said. Then he made a drop of blood down the gem. His blood slid out as Gwen’s. “What happened? It also doesn’t suck my blood more.” he said.
“It’s so strange.” lamented Gwen. Then flipped the gem up and down for half an hour but they couldn’t find anything. It’s quite boring to stay in there. They decided to leave and find out about it later.
