Chapter 7: The cursed land Lernaen (part 2)

“No, thank you - Lily.” said Amelinda, “I think I should eat something hot first. I still feel sleepy and need to wake up.”

“Porridge - it’s hot.” said Lily.

“Yes, I think I will have some of it first.” said Amelinda. She stood up at one, reached on the big spoon in the porridge pot and then helped her to have a little.

“How about you, Heracles and Gwen? Do you want to have some honey and bread?” said Lily.

“May I?” Gwen replied. He turned to Lily, to Aunt Calliope then turned back to the attractive lamp. Lily seemed to understand him. She smiled. “Yes, of course. Do it yourself.” she said. Aunt Calliope also smiled warmly she bowed her head. Gwen ginned. He immediately reached out, took on the plate of lamb then pulled it back to him. He grabbed on the knife put with the lamb and started cut it in pieces. Gwen did it well seconds later the big lamp was cut into good – looking pieces. He smiled satisfying with what he did. Then he picked some pieces of lamb with some potatoes and planned to put into Aunt Calliope. “Let me help you to have some.” he said.

“Thank you – boy but I don’t eat meat.” said Aunt Calliope gently.

Gwen stopped. He was a little surprised not thinking that Aunt Calliope didn’t eat meat while almost things there were meat.

“My mother is telling the truth. She doesn’t eat meat. Meat is prepared for you. Let’s eat it.” Lily hurriedly said.

“I’m sorry. I don’t know it.” said awkwardly.

“It’s okay boy. Let’s enjoy the meal as though you are in your home.” Ant Calliope said still in her gentle and warm voice.

“Yes, we do.” said Gwen happily. He turned to his friend. “Heracles, have some.” he said, grinning widely.

“Yes, of course.” Heracles replied. He also smiled. Gwen put the lamb pieces into Heracles’s bowl then also helped him have some. They ate it well then reached to the plate of stuffed tomatoes after that. They gobbled. Later, when they both filled their stomachs by meat they turned to the pot of porridge, took each one bowl then tasted it. Amelinda also got some pieces lamb and one stuffed tomato after finished her bowl of porridge. Aunt Calliope didn’t eat meat so she only ate some porridge then stopped. She took some grapes, ate and looked them eating. Lily seemed liked honey very much. She seemed to only eat honey, orange jam and bread in whole the dinner.

“Do any of you want some?” Lily spoke up when she saw Heracles and Gwen stopped. She lathered orange jam on bread pieces then gave to Heracles and Gwen.

“Try it.” she said.

“Thank you – thank Lily” said Heracles and Gwen, received bread. Heracles took a look on his bread then raised it up to his mouth, bit and chew. It’s not bad. Honestly, Heracles quite liked it but he was too full that moment. Therefore, he tried to finish the bread then stopped. Gwen, Amelinda, Lily and Aunt Calliope also finished their dinner. They stayed still at right their chairs conversing and also took a rest. Later, Lily and her mother stood up, managed to clean up. Heracles, Gwen and Amelinda stood at one wanting to help them a hand.

“Let them there. I will do it. Go back your room and rest. I will find you after I finish the things.” said Lily, prevented them not to wash.

“She’s right – children. You need to rest more. Let us do it.” said aunt Calliope.

Heracles and Gwen stopped. They turned in silent and got a bit stupid. They wanted to help but both Lily and her mother talked not to do so they didn’t know to do what next.

“Thank you very much.” Amelinda spoke up, “But let us help you tomorrow.”

“You are welcome.” said Lily, gave her a big smile.

“Good night Aunt Calliope.” said Amelinda.

“Good night boys and girl.” Aunt Calliope replied her.

“Bye! See you tomorrow.” said Heracles and Gwen.

Then they made their way leave the kitchen turning back to the bedroom. As soon as they walked into it, Gwen threw his back on the bed; he turned much lazy. “I am too full.” he groaned. His eyelids slowly dropped down; he was too sleepy. Heracles and Amelinda on other hand didn’t lie right away they made the way to the table by window. They sat there.

“We have left for days. Hope all people don’t worry too much.” said Heracles in deep voice. He looked through the window seeing the red sun which was slowly disappearing.

“They will not.” said Amelinda certainty, “We should care about our situation now”. Then they both turned speechless in seconds.

“She told that this is Lernaen. Have you ever read about it?” said Heracles suddenly. He turned to Amelinda and stared at her.

“It reminds me of a place but I am not sure.” said Amelinda.

“Where?” Heracles squealed.

“Uhm- It’s…”

“You’re still not sleeping, yet?” the voice of Lily interrupting them.

“We are not.” said Amelinda, quickly turned to the door, saw Lily cross the door she moved passed Gwen’s feet which still touched on ground. Gwen had slept his back on the bed but his leg was not dropping on ground. “Oh - Gwen did sleep.” said Lily, looking him in moments then moved toward Heracles and Amelinda.

“I come to talk.” Lily said excitedly, “I really curious about you and people live in your place. What do people do? How do they live? What do they eat, drink and play? There have many things I want to know. However,” Lily stopped, she lowered her voice, “I want to know firstly that how you could come to here. Tell me it.”

Amelinda didn’t answer; she turned and looked at Heracles. Heracles shrugged looked into Amelinda’s eyes.

“Do you know magic, magic items, spells and other things like them?” said Amelinda in very low voice, glared at Lily.

“Yes, I know a little.” said Lily shortly.

Though his body was big and stout, he moved very fast coming to them and froze as he saw a dead on ground. “Who are they?” he asked softly, looking on Amelinda. “This is Lily and - Aunt Calliope.” Amelinda said hesitantly; “She is Lily’s mother.
