Chapter 7: The first year outdoor activities (part 3)

“Now, people in the first row put your arrows into your bow’s string and let try to shoot. I will stand here and see you.”

Heracles, Gwen, Amelinda and others in their row hurriedly pointed their bows down, attached arrows to their bows’ string then pulled back to their face. There suddenly have some cracking noises. Heracles’s bow was broken in two. “God, what did you do to it?” whispered Gwen, turning to Heracles. “Pull it.” said Heracles shortly.

“Focus guy.” the voice of Professor Oswald, reminding Gwen. Gwen turned back, pointed to one straw effigy at the end of the meadow. Heracles kept staying here doing nothing. “Shoot!” said Professor Oswald loudly. All arrows simultaneously were shot out but almost of them couldn’t reach on their targets. Amelinda’s arrow dropped down at somewhere at the middle of the meadow while Gwen’s arrow flew toward the sky. “The first row move aside. The second row walk ahead and try.” said Professor Oswald. “Heracles please come here.” he added then turned to Leonard, “Help me to guide them.”

“Yeah professor.” said Leonard, moved ahead standing by the rows of first year Zeusians.

Heracles made his way to Professor Oswald. Amelinda and Gwen also went with him. Professor Oswald gave him his bow as he came. “Try your best to pull it.” he said. Heracles grabbed the bow and started pulling it. Some cracking noises spread out again. “Stop Heracles!” squealed Amelinda. Heracles immediately stopped pulling the string but the bow was on his hand nearly broken. Professor Oswald still kept watching. “There has much power from your arms.” he said, “I think no bow here can stand your power. Follow me, I want you to try one thing.” Professor Oswald strode off heading to the castle. Heracles turned to Gwen and Amelinda a little then they all walked after him. After they got in the castle, Professor Oswald brought them to a private room, let them go in then close the door after that. He hurriedly walked toward them, pulled a chair out of its table then sat on it. “Try to pull it.” he said, giving Heracles a bow which suddenly appeared on his hand. Heracles looked at Professor Oswald then received the bow from him. He grabbed the bow by one hand and then pulled its string by the other hand. The bow was curved as Heracles pulled but it’s not broken. “It may be suitable for you, a too tough for almost people.” said Professor Oswald, “I have gotten for many years but I don’t use it wanting a person to give this bow. However, it’s too tough for them and so it keeps staying my space ring from the time to now. If you like, you can have it Heracles.”

“Thank you professor.” said Heracles. “What is it made of?” he added.

“I don’t know but it’s a good material. It will not be broken.” said Professor Oswald.

“Where did you get it? said Amelinda, “It is a little ugly.”

“Don’t look at its appearance girl.” said Professor Oswald, “Don’t look at the appearance of anything. If you do it, you will never see good qualities inside them.” The sound of wings flapping suddenly appeared. A white shadow shot up and landed on Professor Oswald shoulder. It’s an owl. Professor Oswald turned and he took out a curled piece of paper tied up on the owl's leg. He unrolled the piece of paper, read.

“You have to go back yourselves, tell Leonard that I have something to do, ask him to guide others. I will meet you again tomorrow afternoon.” He hurriedly got out from the room, left them there. “He ignores my question.” said Amelinda.

“What do you meant?” said Gwen quickly.

“I did ask him that where did he get this bow but he didn’t answer me. But forget it we need to turn back.” said Amelinda.

They got out from the room after that, went straight to the others, told Leonard what Professor Oswald told them and then stood on their row and continued practicing with others. Archery lessons ended a few hours before dinner. People hurriedly turned back their dorm bathing and then made their way to canteen to have their dinners. Heracles and Gwen turned back their room after dinner, laid their backs on beds at one.

“Outdoor activities always take away our much energy.” said Gwen.

“You are right. I think I can sleep now.” said Heracles.

“First year Zeusians,” the voice of Leonard, “I need you all to come to our family room now.” Then the noises of footsteps came out and vanished Leonard had left.

“Why does he need us to arrive to family room this time?” lamented Gwen.

“Dunno. Just go and find out it.” said Heracles, managed to get out from his bed. He and Gwen walked out from their room with others and met Amelinda at the door, still wearing in her pink pajama which had red hearts on. Heracles and Gwen looked at her then turned to each other.

“I don’t think you will put in lovely suit.” Gwen said. He laughed.

“Don’t mind it.” said Amelinda, “My mother thought it would make me more feminine. He asked me to bring it to here.”

“Honestly, she’s right. I even don’t realize you in this pajama.” said Gwen still laughing. Amelinda ignored him. She turned to Heracles. “Do you know what Leonard finds us for?” she said.

“No, he didn’t say.” said Heracles.

When they came in family room, Leonard and few seniors had been there, brought a board with them. “Make friend together. They are our first year Zeusias.” said Leonard, hinted the people to Heracles and other first year Zeusias, “and they are your seniors, the best people who had ever participated in the ten days of natural survival. They came here to help you outline a plan to win the flag robbing game.”

“This is Bryan, the captain of third year Zeusians.” said Leonard hinting to the person standing nearest him, having smooth blonde hair and handsome face, “He is the person who had performed a great defensive plan in the time he and his fellows participated in the ten days of natural survival. They kept staying their camps and waited for members of other families to come then caught and tied them together. Aresian members were bad guys in the time. Their flags were robbed after almost of Aresian members were caught. Bryan had led our family to have convincing victory in that game which helped our family lit up our torch in entire year.”, “Please him a round of applause for him.” Leonard raised his voice. People gave Bryan a round of applause. After that, Leonard hinted to the next person and said: “This is Camden. He is captain of fifth year Zeusians. He did lead his fellows to go and attack other families’ camps, had robbed six flags. One of them was main flags of Herathyia family. Unfortunately, in the time he and his fellows were not in their camps, others came and robbed their flags. They didn’t win the game at last but their plan is something worthy gỏ you to learn.”

A loud bag spread out above their heads. Two hooded cloak men lied quietly on ground. Roger walked to the gallery. “Heracles, Gwen and Amelinda, you all are here. It is hard to find you” he called up. He hurriedly made the way step down the stairs. Though his body was big and stout, he moved very fast coming to them and froze as he saw a dead on ground. “Who are they?” he asked softly, looking on Amelinda. “This is Lily and - Aunt Calliope.” Amelinda said hesitantly; “She is Lily’s mother. She saved all of us.” she added sadly.  Between curly hair and bushy beard which almost covered his face were warm eyes. She warmly looked on Lily who was sitting on ground holding her mother’s hand.
