The first light of the sun laid on the canvas and went through it. Heracles woke up. He sat up and immediately looked around. Gwen was still there sleeping but Amelinda was not she had woken up and went to somewhere. Heracles stretched reaching on Gwen he shook on his shoulder.
“Gwen – wake up.” he called.
“Oh Heracles” said Gwen sleepily, rubbing on his eyes. He sat up, turned to Heracles. “Where is Amelinda?” he added.
“I don’t know. She went out.” said Heracles. “Hurry up! We go out. It has been morning.” he added.
Heracles stood. He walked toward the entrance of the tent, lowered his head down then stepped out. Amelinda had been there outside. She was staying by the pile of ashes which was left after the fire died.
“Amelinda,” said Heracles, approaching her, “Didn’t you have nice sleep?” he added thoughtfully, found to stay by her.
“Honestly, I did Heracles.” replied Amelinda.
“What did you do here Amelinda? Why did you get up so early?” the voice of Gwen. He broke out from the tent then walked toward Heracles and Amelinda.
“I only wandered in morning, enjoyed the air and take a look around.” said Amelinda.
“Do you see anything?” asked Gwen.
“Yes, I see. There have many footprints around our tent. However, it’s not any big problem because almost of them are footprints of small animals.” said Amelinda.
Sunlight gently shone around their place and made dew drops turn glitter in their eyes. The time was still early. They had breakfast then made their way to go. They continued walking deeply in the forest. Heracles tried to determine the direction, the north was the direction they wanted to head to. The wood turned much quiet, murky and ancient as they went ahead. It gave them the feeling not easy to explain excited and including a bit scared. The foliage was very high upon their heads, not many shrubs and brushes under their feet. Instead of them, there were big roots which looked like as like zigzag gigantic snakes covering the ground and convolves which were as big as small trunk from somewhere in the foliage dropped down reaching on ground. Heracles, Gwen and Amelinda looked tiny compared to the surrounding scenery. Still walked ahead but they couldn’t go fast there was too many obstacles on ground.
Heracles climbed up a gigantic root which prevented in front of their way then stood upon it.
“Give me your hand.” said Heracles. He bent down, reached to Amelinda. Amelinda raised her hand up that Heracles could grab it and then pulled her up. “Thank you.” said Amelinda. She made her way stand aside. Heracles bent down again then helped Gwen climb up.
“Thank you Heracles.” said Gwen.
They all stood on the root then found the way to get down. They slipped off the root, landed on the ground then continued walking into the forest. They seemed to go to the wettest area of the forest. On ground and even on roots and trunks were covered wet green mosses which made Heracles’ and his friends’ clothes wetted they felt a little cold. Mosses also made the way become slippery they could not be in hurry. Instead, each of them took a stick carefully walked. They walked in long time but they didn’t escape from the place, still in the area of ancient trees and mosses. It was really not good place for them to camp or fire. Therefore, they decided not to rest and kept going ahead till they found a dry place.
“Heracles, drink a little.” said Amelinda behind Heracles’s back. She gave the water-skin forward. Heracles turned back, took the water-skin. “Thank you Amelinda.” he said, then continued walking. Heracles took a big gulp of water then gave it back to Amelinda. “We have to hurry up.” said Heracles worriedly. Amelinda didn’t say anything. She kept after him, drank a little water then turned back, gave the water-skin to Gwen.
“How long do we have to go? I feel really tired.” Gwen spoke up after he drank a little water.
“I don’t know but we have to go Gwen. We can’t stay here. It’s too humid.” said Heracles heavily.
“Yes, I know it but - any of you can let me know how long we have to go more.” said Gwen.
“We can’t answer your question Gwen. Just keep going we will get out from this place.” said Amelinda.
Gwen turned speechless; he and the others felt too tired to talk more. Just followed the others they kept going in an hour then got out of green moss area. They came to place drier and cleaner. It’s too late they had to stop. Heracles managed to sit down and leaned on a tree’s root. Gwen rushed to weeds nearly Herracles, sat down at one. “Agrhh!” he breathed out. He stood his scepter against the tree, took out of his bag, put aside then laid himself on the weeds at one. “I am going to die.” he added, reached on his bag, grabbed on his water-skin. He raised his head up then took gulps of water. To walk in forest in long time made all of them feel very thirsty and tired their breaths turned much deeply when they stopped. After quenching his thirst, Gwen gave his water-skin to the others. Amelinda received it first. She drank then gave it to Heracles sitting next to her. Their breaths got again initial state after that. However, it took much time than they thought. Though they had stayed at the place for long time, no one of them moved.
“It’s enough for us to go today. I can take my body out from the ground.” groaned Gwen, still lying on the weeds.
“Stand up Gwen. We should go and get some firewood for tonight. It will turn dark soon” said Heracles seriously.
“Alright!” said Gwen. He lazily moved his body sitting then stood up.
“Stay here and help us take care of the bags. We will go back soon.” said Heracles, turning to Amelinda.
“Alright, I will.” replied Amelinda.
Heracles made his way go. Gwen lazily walked after him. They didn’t go far, just walked few steps away from Amelinda and their luggage. It’s not difficult to get firewood in forest a lot of dry twigs and branches covered on ground.
Heracles was lowering his body, picking dry branches. “Heracles--” said Gwen in whispered voice behind him.
Heracles stood up, turned back. He frowned looking at Gwen who was stood straight few feet away from him, hugged some branches in his arm. “What happen Gwen?” Heracles spoke up, still in his normal voice.
