Chapter 13: The Nemean lion (part 4)

“Polles bales pyrkagias--” cried Heracles, pointing his scepter at the Nemean lion. As soon as he spelled, a lot of fire balls shot out from Heracles scepter flying to the Nemean lion and covering its vision. Immediately, he caught the chance to store his scepter in his space ring and take out his bow. He grabbed few arrows and shot to the Nemean lion which at the time was covering by fire. Heracles kept shooting to it till all his arrows were over. Later, when the fire vanished, the Nemean lion appeared. However, the Nemean lion still stood firmly on its feet, having no harm. Heracles’s fire balls didn’t burn its fur little while his arrows at the moment all dropped on ground, broken.

“You will not hurt me with the stuff.” said the Nemean lion, slowly moving toward Heracles. Heracles kept distance, stepping backward. Then, suddenly the Nemean lion leapt up and reached on Heracles right after that. It pushed him down on ground, kept staying upon his body and tried to kill him by the knife-looking teeth. Heracles had tried effort using his arm to hold its neck up from of his face. The Nemean lion roared loudly. Though, Heracles was very strong, stronger than every the same age children, he couldn’t force himself to keep awake after hearing that terrible roar. He gradually lost consciousness, his eyes slowly closely after that then his hands dropped down. He didn’t see and felt anything more.

As soon as Heracles’s hands dropped down, the Nemean lion’s neck was released. It bent down and planned to bite on his neck, wanting to finish the fight at one. However, something stopped it. It took a step back and observe. It seemed that for a moment it had seen something frightening appeared on Heracles’ forehead, a symbol. The Nemean lion stepped up to see more clearly. However, by someway Heracles’s hands reaches for its neck again and then hugged it tightly. The strength of his hands, out of nowhere, was too great. Heracles tightened more and more tightly that made the Nemean lion couldn’t breathe and struggle. Rather, its body seemed to be restrained by an invisible force that made it unable to struggle. At last, the huge, terrifying and powerful creature gradually faded away and then fell down. It didn’t breathe anymore and die. Heracles was by it, still hugging on its neck. The place turned much silent than ever.

“Heracles, Heracles --” the voice of Amelinda. Heracles opened his eyes and saw Amelinda and Roger were front of his face. “Gwen--” he said. “He’s still okay.” squealed Amelinda. Heracles closed his eyes again then quickly lost consciousness and could only feel he was brought to somewhere after that.

Right after Heracles and Gwen were brought out of the place, whole the place was covered by darkness. Two men appeared, walking in night heading to the place the dead Nemean lion was. They kept standing by it for a while.

“The Nemean lion has died. Legend of a hero did start. I want all people to know about it. Go and talk it to them, people in the world. For sure that they now about the name of Heracles.” said one of the hooded men, still looking at the Nemean lion. Then the other man strode off then vanished after that. The hooded kept staying at the place in seconds. Then he reached his hand out. The ring on his finger suddenly lit up then the Nemean lion’s body vanished. Later, he strode off heading to the direction he came from and then vanished.

The round piece of metal looked like a trapdoor, very tough and heavy that only people having enormous power could take it up. Heracles was lying on his back and his right hand was holding the sword; Gwen’s on other side lying on his stomach. The helmet was still on his head while the metal shield was brought on his back. Kon had vanished. Heat coming from the trapdoor made Gwen wake up. With wincing face Gwen contorted his body to sit up. Whole his body was in pain as though he had just passed a fight. He adjusted the wide helmet and looked. Beside him his friend. Heracles was there.  “Heracles!” he called softly, gently touched on his friend and not forgot to observe around. Heracles woke.
