Chapter 6: Wander in the forest (part 4)

Heracles, Amelinda and Gwen were in deep sleep by the flickering fire, not knowing anything happened around.

Rustles sounded up. In night something looked like a weird and huge creature was moving. It didn’t have specific shape like liquid spreading out on ground, splitting up then uniting as it passing the tree. The creature still moving with thousands of rattling sounds. It was heading to Heracles, Gwen and Amelinda. As soon as the creature came near the fire, its shape was clearly seen. It was not any of creature but thousands or maybe millions of serpents which were together creeping upon the others because they were too crowded. They were serpents. Thousands of serpents and maybe millions of serpent were creeping upon the others covering whole the ground. Normally, the serpents would split up when they met obstacles on the way. However, the moment they were attracted by the fire hurrying toward it.

“Pop! Pop! Pop!...” Some light explosive sounds came out as the first serpents reached on Amelinda’s protective circles. The serpents were bounced away as they tried to break into the circles. Their bodies were burnt as they were in the air and then as they dropped on ground whole their bodies turned in black. They died. The others still kept heading toward the circles. They also had same results as the previous serpents being bounced off and burnt.  The more time passed, the more serpents were burnt and died. The bodies of them were piled up outside the protective circles. But, the light of the protective turned more and more faded. At last, the light turned off. The protective circle didn’t work anymore. The first serpent broke in then the second, the third and others. They immediately headed toward the fire which had special attraction to them. The fire heated them. Some of them were burnt and died. The others were injured struggling to escape from it. Later, the fire died. From ashes the injured serpents broke out bringing coot to go away with them. They continued moved ahead passing Heracles, Gwen and Amelinda. Almost serpents turned their ways and dodged them as they met them. However, some of them became curiously made their ways creep on Heracles, Gwen and Amelinda.

Gwen was in his deep sleep. Honestly, he was snoring. Then something wet and cold touched on his face and woke him up. However, he still kept his eyes closed trying to sleep again. He stirred, took his hand out of the sleeping bag, brushed the thing on his face aside then put his hand in the sleeping bag and continued snoring. Later, the wet and cold thing made its way go on Gwen’s face again. He was waken up again but he was too lazy to open his eyes, used his hand to pushing the thing away from his face then he turned his body lying on one side. However, the thing didn’t seem to let him alone. Minutes later, Gwen felt it again touching on his face. That time, he became too impatient, decided to open his eyes and see what the thing was. As soon as, Gwen opened the eyes, he vaguely saw the shape of something looking like a serpent in front of face. Not believing in eyes, Gwen closed eyes and opened again. That time, he was not wrong anymore he saw exactly a big black serpent staying in front of his face. The serpent looked at him by its round eyes flicking its tongue. Gwen didn’t move he knew that if he did anything stupid at the moment he would be attacked at one. Therefore, he kept silent and motionless. However, his body didn’t obey him his heart beat faster. “Dub – dub – dub – dub dub- dub dub dub…” and his body temperature heated up. The serpent flicked its tongue faster. Gwen didn’t dare to move a little. His face turned pale. “Heracles! Amelinda!” he called in very gentle voice. No one replied him. “Heracles!” he called a little more loudly. Heracles didn’t hear while the serpent looked more dangerous, moved a little. Then suddenly, it shot toward him. Gwen was in the sleeping bag, immediately jumped up. So the serpent missed him and dropped few feet from him. He is temporarily safe but Heracles was not because it was very near him. “Heracles!” Gwen screamed loudly.

Heracles woke up at one and immediately realized the danger a serpent was slowly creeping toward him from one side looking at him with scary red eyes. Heracles sat up. As soon as Heracles moved, the serpent also sped up it threw itself toward his throat, opened it mouth widely showing up two fangs poison. It planned to kill Heracles with a bite on his neck. But, it could never have reach on Heracles. As soon as it came in Heracles’s reach, it was immediately caught. Heracles grabbed on its neck by one hand and then tightened. It struggled violently in seconds then died becoming limp. Amelinda had woken up. She kept sitting silently after Heracles with hands covering on her mouth she didn’t want to make Heracles distracted. Heracles threw the dead serpent aside then turned to Amelinda to make sure that she was okay but that time Amelinda had turned to other direction. His face was very very pale.

“What’s wrong with you Amelinda?” he asked.

“Look it Heracles.” said Amelinda in trembling voice. Heracles could feel that she was scared. He turned and looked to the place of their fire. There were a lot of things which looked like dead serpents lying full of ground. Heracles blinked to see clearly.

“What had happened?” he asked, “Why did the serpents can go here?

“They were attracted by our fire and broke our protective circle to go in. Luckily, they were burnt by the fire and so now we are in safe.” said Amelinda. Her voice had turned normal.

“They are not.” said Gwen. That time his face turned as much as pale like Amelinda before.

Immediately Heracles and Amelinda turned to him.

“What do you mean?” asked Heracles.

“It still have a lot of them here.” replied Gwen, not turned to look at Heracles. He stood still. His eyes looked far away. His hand held his scepter tightly, raised up. Rustling sounds turned more clearly some things were approaching. Heracles and Amelinda stood up. They took their scepters then gathered with Gwen. Under weak lights of the scepters they only saw things very closed but they could hear rustling sounds from all sides. They stood back to back, kept the scepters tightly on hands, narrowed their eyes to see. The creatures making the rustling sounds quickly appeared.

“God! Serpents – a lot of them.” Amelinda groaned. Her face turned completely white. Heracles and Gwen didn’t talk anything. “What should we do now?” she added in very weak tone.

“We have to run.” said Heracles. He was the most calm person. Heracles moved toward the dead fire, picked up branches. “Fountono” he said. A bright red spot appeared at middle of the crystal ball on Heracles’s scepter. It got bigger and bigger then later replaced whole the blue light. Fire shot out then caught on the tops of the branches. Heracles turned back, gave Amelinda and Gwen each one a branch.

Chapter 10: I am Heracles (part 7)

“Do you believe me?” said Heracles seriously glaring on his friend. Look into Heracles’s eyes, Gwen had never seen he is so serious. Still kept silent, he bowed his head. “Will you follow my words?” asked Heracles again. “Yes, I will. But, can you behave as usual, Agassi? You make me a little scared.” said Gwen. “Listen to me Gwen.” said Heracles, hurriedly left the bed coming to the clothes hanger, “You’re Gwen and I’m Heracles. They are our names. They don’t change though others call us by anything.” he stressed, his hand grabbed on his clothes and managed to put in it, “It’s very difficult for you to accept it now” he lowered his voice, “but we have been enchanted. That’s why you and even I can not remember ourselves. Now I can not help you to remember all the things right at one. I only can tell you little by little. However, it took us much time while we don’t have. Amelinda is in danger. We have to go to help her.” he turned back the bed giving Gwen his clothes. “Who is Ameninda?

Chapter 11: The gate (part 1)

It’s morning. Sunlight shone to everywhere. Heracles and Gwen were lying on a large round piece of metal meticulously sculpted a hammer and an anvil in the central and snakes winding around. The round piece of metal looked like a trapdoor, very tough and heavy that only people having enormous power could take it up. Heracles was lying on his back and his right hand was holding the sword; Gwen’s on other side lying on his stomach. The helmet was still on his head while the metal shield was brought on his back. Kon had vanished. Heat coming from the trapdoor made Gwen wake up. With wincing face Gwen contorted his body to sit up. Whole his body was in pain as though he had just passed a fight. He adjusted the wide helmet and looked. Beside him his friend. Heracles was there.  “Heracles!” he called softly, gently touched on his friend and not forgot to observe around. Heracles woke. He sat up. “Gwen” he said.  “Heracles - look! Where is this place? Why are we here?” asked Gwen, still kept
