“Oh be patient! There had enough for all of you.” said Lily. She took oranges from baskets, gave to them. Then, the remaining children at last left their places walking to others and got oranges. Heracles and the others were rounded by the children for a while. They scattered after got their oranges. Heracles still paid attention on Arian; she still stood right at her place looked toward the direction Bernie went. Later, when others walked away, she made her way turn back to Heracles, put one orange in his basket.
“I don’t need it. Only need one for me.” said Arian.
“Take it Arian. You also can get more if you want.” said Lily gently.
“No – one is enough for me.” said Arian, smiling with Lily. Then she turned to Heracles, looked at him by her innocent eyes which very beautiful.
“Don’t worry brother. Lord will protect you like he protect us. He does not leave anyone here.” said Arian then gave Heracles, Gwen and Amelinda a nice smile.
“Thank you.” said Heracles. He didn’t know what he should reply her. However, it’s okay. Arian smiled widely with narrowed eyes. “So sweet.” thought Heracles.
Arian turned back then strode off. She was much cute being seen from behind; her short feet made her looked like a penguin as she walked. Then the last child also vanished from their eyes. Heracles, Amelinda and Gwen turned to Lily.
“What is the curse the children talked about?” said Heracles, stared at her. Amelinda and Gwen on other side were speechless focusing on her.
“It’s a story from long time ago.” said Lily, “It talked about a woman who lived here. She had met a man who by someway appeared inside the forest. Though all people told her that she shouldn’t bring him to her home because Lord didn’t like anything from outside, she ignored them all. She brought him to her home, gave him food and drink. They lived together and then fell in love after that. They lived in peace until,” Lily stopped, looked over them by sad eyes, “Lord knew it. One day, people woke up and were shocked to see their house ruined. Honestly, it’s smashed and they vanished. No one knew that where they were brought but people believed that they had been punished and their fates were not different from their house. That had instilled fear into their minds”
“But, any one of the person saw your Lord did the things?” said Amelinda suspiciously.
“No, they didn’t but all of them believed it that no one could bring people away. No one dare to smash their house in Lord’s territory. No one but Lord.” said Lily. Her voice was really serious.
“Don’t you believed it?” asked Gwen.
“Not complete.” said Lily, “This is the only story talking about punishment of Lord to people disobeying him. There had no story like that more after that but no one here dare to forget it. It’s repeated for the next generation. And till now, fear is still in their minds.” added Lily.
“You don’t scare? You and your mother don’t scare your Lord?” said Amelinda raising her voice. “You both even give us places to rest. Don’t you think about the punishment?”
“Lord – he consider him as like god.” said Lily; she really serious, “We worship. We believe him and we scare his power. However, we could not believe in a story and then leave with no food drink and place to rest. It’s so cruel.”
“It will have nothing happen to you and mother, right?” said Amelinda in an uneasy way.
“I don’t know. Something can happen and also can not. There had nothing certain.” gently Lily said. “Anyway, there had one thing I and my mother always believe in. It’s the kindness. We do what our hearts talk. Guess Lord will understand us.” She smiled.
“Thank you so much.” said Amilinda, looked on her gratefully.
“You don’t need to thank me. It is what we chose to do.” said Lily.
“Thank you, Lily.” said Heracles. He also gratefully looked at her. She smiled
“You come again, Lily.” a hoarse voice came out. A person appeared and went with him, Bernie. He was an old man having a grizzly hair and beard. He wore in a wide coat.
“Yes, am I.” replied Lily.
“How is your mother? Is she still fine? I have not met her for long time.” said the man, walking toward them.
“She is still fine Elder D.” said Lily.
“I must thank you and your mother much. In such the time, you and mother have brought to us many of oranges. Our children really like them.” said Elder D.
“You don’t need to thank us.” said Lily, “We only exchange.”
“Yeah-” said Elder D. He stopped in front of them, “I heard that you brought outside people to come here. So they are.” He turned his eyes to Heracles and the others.
“Yes, they are.” said Lily.
Elder D didn’t behave as like children that he didn’t have any fear as he saw Heracles, Gwen and Amelinda. Instead of it, he looked and evaluated them. Heracles didn’t like his gaze scanning on him and his friends he chose not to say anything. Elder D took his eyes off them after few moments then turned to Lily.
“You shouldn’t bring them to here. Children will scare if they see them.” said Elder D.
“I’m sorry, Elder D. I will not bring them to here next times.” said Lily, “And here are remaining oranges.” Lily hinted Elder D to the baskets Heracles and Gwen were bringing.
“Take them Bernie.” said Elder D.
“I can’t.” lamented Bernie, “I will not touch on anything they brought. I don’t want Lord will leave me.”
“Follow me words – Bernie.” groaned Elder D, turned to Bernie and stared at him.
Bernie looked down. Though he didn’t want, he was forced to go and get orange from Heracles and Gwen. He reluctantly stepped toward them. In the time waiting for him to walk, Heracles and Gwen put all the remaining oranges into two baskets. Bernie stopped at front of Heracles. He raised his head, stared at Heracles. His eyes seemed to be filled full by fear.
“Here you are.” said Heracles, handing the basket to him.
“Please put them on ground. I will not touch on you.” squealed Bernie.
