Chapter 11: The gate (part 4)

“Keep silence Amelinda. Someone is coming.” Heracles spoke up, kept his voice in low. Footsteps come more nearly. From a corner two people walked out. They both looked very normal, wore white cloaks made of coarse cloth. The cloaks had hoods but they didn’t wear. Therefore, Heracles could see their face. They both were men, looked young and having a little softness of a girl. Their skin was white. One of them even wore spectacles. They looked weak, so different with men who wore black cloak.

“Did you hear Miss Calliope did free a girl?” said one of them.

“Really? I didn’t know it.” said the other.

“Yes, she did. I heard she has freed a girl. I heard from others that the girl is her daughter.” said the first man.

“Her daughter.” lamented the second, “So, it’s the reason.”

“Yes, I think no one can stand to see their daughter died especially Miss Calliope. She is too kind.” said the first.

“Poor Calliope.” lamented the second. “So how is about her daughter? Where is she?”

“I don’t know. Do you see guards? They are finding them. Elders are really angry. They ordered them to find her daughter quickly.” said the first.

“Hope she will be in safe.” said the second, sighed.

“Keep your mouth. Don’t let any other hear the word.” said the first at one.

“I’m sorry. Just feel pity to her. Do you know how she is now?” said the second.

“I heard he had taken to the lowest floor where Lord stayed and where we are not able to set foot on except the elders. Her fate will be decided by Lord.” said the first.

“Pitiful,” the second lamented.

Heracles didn’t miss a word. “Did you hear it? She is lowest floor.” he whispered. “Yes, we heard. Go, quickly! We have to save her before our invisible power stop working.” said Amelinda. They hurriedly moved heading down. On the way, they few crowd of people. All of them were in hurry searching everywhere to find them. Of course they couldn’t find. Heracles and others cleverly dodged, leaning against wall and keeping silence whenever they met. Light appeared at the end of the passage. They hurriedly stepped forward and then coming a gallery. They were overwhelmed, didn’t think that there had a huge hall in deep underground. No word could describe it. Everything there was wrapped by gold, the ceiling, the floor, the wall surround, the gallery and even the stairs. There had four stairs leading to floor from gallery. The high and big pillars from the floor to the ceiling were made of pure gold. They decorated with colorful gemstones. There were about hundreds burning torches hanging around and some big torches were set on ground light up whole the hall. The gemstones twinkled and gold reflected the light from the torches. A large pile of gold coins and gemstones was in the middle of the hall. They were very mesmerizing and beside there had no one watching. “Look! They are all gold.” whispered Gwen.

“Don't let them charm you. We come here to save Aunt Calliope.” said Amelinda. She paid her eyes on one end of the hall where a sacrificial altar was. Aunt Calliope there was tied to the cross and unconscious. “She’s there.” she said then pulled Heracles’s and Gwen’s hand, walked toward one stairs. They cautiously stepped down though they are invisible. The hall was wider than they thought when they reached on floor. The pile of gold also looked bigger. They all had to step on tiptoes to make no sound, followed the golden pillars along the length of the hall and came nearly to the jewels pile. It was mesmerizing. Gwen couldn’t ignore it he stared at it. However, he still kept his sanity walking ahead. Everything was okay and they almost moved pass it. Suddenly, Gwen caught bright light. He turned and see and a beautiful gemstones staying in hundreds of golden coins. Gwen didn’t know why but he really wanted to have it. He released Amelinda’s hand and walked toward it. “Gwen, where are you going?” Amelinda squealed. Gwen seemed not hear. He continued stepping ahead. He reached his hand out, touched on the gemstone. As soon as he touched on it, the jewel pile moved. Something arose. “Who? Which thief dared to come and steal my treasure?” a deep scary voice spread out. Gwen woke up at one, dropped the gemstone down. He stood still lifting his face seeing a giant head emerging out from the jewel pile, completely lost will. Luckily, by someway Heracles found him then pulled him and Amelinda rushed to a pillar and hid behind it. Golden coins dropped down, one dragon head broke out from the pile of jewel. Then the second and the third appeared. A three headed dragon came out from the giant pile of jewel. Its wide wings stretched and its four large scales full of scales stepped on the golden coins. Coins fell, jingled. “Where are you thief?” said three heads together. Its voice was so deep and cold as though it came from somewhere very ancient. Its appearance is also very ancient. “Where are you the rat? I can smell you.” said the dragon, stretching long necks out, moving around and scanning every corner by enormous eyes. Heracles, Gwen and Amelinda stood still. They had to keep their breaths, not to make loud noise but their heart couldn’t stop pounding. One of the heads moved toward their place and nearly touched on them. “Where are you? Where are you hiding? I couldn’t be wrong. A thief had touched my treasure. A dirty hand.” said one head. Heracles could see jagged teeth and felt its hot breath hitting on his face. His body trembled while Amelinda held his arm tightly, shut her eyes up. The yellow-slit-eyes scanned on the place for seconds then the head turned moving to other place. The other head also scanned their eyes on their place but they didn’t see them. “Any of you see the rat?” asked the first head. Though they looked alike, there still have difference between the heads. “They may have used some trick.” said the third head. The dragon left the pile of gold. Some golden coins got kicked and scattered away. One rolled toward Heracles and luckily stopped right in front of his toes. The coin fell down but didn’t touch on him. The dragon had come to one end of the hall. It’s still noisy. “You can not hide forever. If you step out, I will give you a comfortable death…”

“You two stay here. I will go and untie Aunt Calliope.” whispered Heracles. The softly stood up and promptly came to the sacrificial altar where Aunt Calliope was tying. He carefully stepped on stairs then approached her. “Aunt Calliope.” he called softly. Aunt Calliope slowly opened her eyes. She looked but she didn’t see anyone. “It’s me Heracles. I am here in front of you. You can’t see me because I'm invisible now.” he added. “Heracles, what are you doing here.” said Aunt Calliope in whispered voice, “How’s about the others, Gwen and Amelinda?”

“They are okay and they are also here.” said Heracles.

“God! You all should leave this place right the time you have chance. Why did you turn back?” she lamented.

“We came back to save you.” said Heracles.

“Who is that?” snapped the dragon. It turned back, scanned on sacrificial altar but it didn’t see anyone but Aunt Calliope who was tying on the cross with listless face. “Who is with you Calliope.” it asked, moved toward. “Nobody is here, my venerable lord.” she said. “Be honest Calliope. You know what you get if you lie me.” it frightened, “You know why I let you alive till now.” It climbed to the top of the gold pile and was passing it. The golden coins slid down jangling.

Chapter 10: I am Heracles (part 7)

“Do you believe me?” said Heracles seriously glaring on his friend. Look into Heracles’s eyes, Gwen had never seen he is so serious. Still kept silent, he bowed his head. “Will you follow my words?” asked Heracles again. “Yes, I will. But, can you behave as usual, Agassi? You make me a little scared.” said Gwen. “Listen to me Gwen.” said Heracles, hurriedly left the bed coming to the clothes hanger, “You’re Gwen and I’m Heracles. They are our names. They don’t change though others call us by anything.” he stressed, his hand grabbed on his clothes and managed to put in it, “It’s very difficult for you to accept it now” he lowered his voice, “but we have been enchanted. That’s why you and even I can not remember ourselves. Now I can not help you to remember all the things right at one. I only can tell you little by little. The last basket of orange was taken away. The men also vanished with the oranges. There were only children with Heracles, Gwen, Lily and Amelinda. They kept staying around the cart playing and talking. Lily and Gwen enjoyed participating with the children while Heracles and Amelinda seemed to be more silent.  “Agassi, come here and join with us.” called Gwen. “What do you want Peres?” Heracles said loudly. “Come here.” Gwen called again. Heracles left the cart, stepped toward Gwen. There some children were gathering around him. “What do you need Gwen?” Heracles asked. “We are playing a game. Don’t you want to join with us?” said Gwen. “What’s this?” asked Heracles. “Brother Agassi, don’t you see it?” said Gwen. He pointed to straight bamboos. Heracles looked. There had three high straight bamboos standing side by side. The bamboos were about two hundreds of yards away from their places. The middle bamboo was the highest. It’s about one hundred and fifty feet high Heracles guessed. The
