“What should we tell them, families of the children?” he asked.
“We should do nothing.” said Professor Genevieve, “It only makes them worried much when we let them know the truth. We should handle the thing in silence and notify them when the thing finish.”
“You’re right. We don’t need to make the thing turn noisy. I think we should leave. People will see us if we stay here too long.” said Roger.
“Yes,” said Professor Genevieve. She pointed her scepter on ground. “Megalono” she said.
The grasses grow up strongly and slowly covered entire the ground. It looked like as though there had nothing happened before. Then Professor Genevieve turned to Roger. “We also go.” she said. “Yeah.” replied Roger. A small pop sounded. From the place Professor Genevieve was standing smoke rose covering around her. Later when the smoke cleared, Professor Genevieve had changed into a white owl. Made a hoot, Professor Genevieve spread wings then fluttered up. She flew upon Roger’s head rounds. “See you in Hippocoon, Roger.” she said. “See you.” Roger replied. Then Professor Genevieve flew away in shape of the owl, there only Roger stayed. Then he also moved. He walked toward the tree standing around grass and quietly disappeared into the darkness.
The shape of Roger another time appeared at an alley in the town. Under the weak light of the dawn he was the only person walking on the road the time. It’s still very early for people to appear. Roger knew where he wanted to go, the pub of Dean. Roger pushed open the hanging door, walked in.
“What brings you to here so early, Roger?” the deep voice of a man came out. He was Ryder who always stood next to the front door and worked as a guard of the pub. Roger stopped, turned to Ryder. “Where is Dean? I want to meet him.” he said coldly.
“What do you want to meet him for? He hasn't come yet.” said Ryder.
“I will wait.” said Roger shortly. Then he made the way wait straight to the long table at the end of the pub where Dean always stayed as he worked there. Roger pulled a chair out then sat one. The side door opened, Dean appeared from Roger’s left. He walked forward the table. “What brings you to here at this time my friend?” Dean spoke up with a big smile on the face. He went to his working place and stood in front of Roger.
“I come here because of you.” said Roger in serious voice.
“What do you mean? I don’t understand.” Dean said, still smiling.
“What did you sell them?” asked Roger.
“Who are them?” Dean raised his voice.
“Heracles, Gwen and Amelinda.” said Roger, staring at Dean.
“Oh the children had come and bought some things. But, why do you care about it? I only sold them some small magical items. They are harmless to others.” said Dean quickly.
Roger put hand in his cloak’s pocket. He took out the stone – piece – chain, put it on table. “Didn’t you sell them magical stones?” asked Roger.
“Yes, I did.” Dean admitted at one.
“There have no problem with the magical stones?” said Roger slowly.
Dean frowned, kept silent in seconds. “No,” he spoke up.
“So, what’s wrong with magical stone.” said Roger. His voice turned very heavy.
“This is…” said Dean hesitantly.
“This is one piece I got from a magical stone you sold to the children.” said Roger, “There have two pieces like it. They all point in different directions. Neither points in the same direction as the other. Why can it happen, Dean? Why can one magical stone record three places?” Roger stopped. He raised head up, stared into Dean’s eyes.
The smile disappeared completely from Dean’s face. He stood still. “You mean.” he said hesitantly, “They have succeeded in making a shifting-circles.” His voice lowered and lowered.
“Yes, they did.” said reluctantly.
“OMG!” Dean groaned, “How could it be? How could they do it?”
“I have never thought that they could succeed, just thinking that they are children wanting to play with their game.” he lamented, “So,” he stopped.
“So what?” asked Roger at one.
“I gave them a defective magical stone?” Dean spoke slowly.
“Tell me detail.” snapped Roger.
“I must tell that it’s very special. The stone was found inside the ruins of an ancient temple in the west. Dust and moss made it look like normal stone. It was considered as a weird stone, much heavier than all stones and was put in a dark corner of our shop for years. It kept silently staying there till the outer coating of it was broken and we found out it was a magical stone, the biggest and brightest magical stone we had ever seen. A worthwhile magical stone I thought that.” said Dean, his voice turned low “But it has been used. The magical stone seemed very useless to use in other way. We tried many ways to use power from the magical stone but we couldn’t. The magical stone seemed only to be used to transfer people from place to place. Furthermore, there had only one destination although the starting place is from anywhere.”
“What did happen after that?” asked Roger.
“We fixed it. Using some spells, we record the magical stone another position opposite to original destination through the earth's axis. They will cancel the each other out and then the magical stone can be used for other things. However, it seems not.” Dean answered.
“You stupid!” shouted Roger, “Your stupid action may be endangering the children.” Roger’s voice was still very loud. The atmosphere around them became tense. Ryder from the front door immediately rushed to them. “Do you have any problem here?” he asked.
“No, Ryder. We just talk.” said Dean, hinted Ryder to step back. He stepped back.
“I admit it was my mistake.” said Dean softly, “I want to do something to fix it. Anything if I have chance.”
“You yourself know that you will never fix all. However, there had one change for you to help the children. Let me know where they were brought to.” said Roger. His voice turned back normal, deep and heavy.
“I will try my best.” said Dean, innocently looked at Roger.
“Let me know the original place recorded to the magical stone. I’m sure that you have the way to find out it, right?” said Roger.
