“I can’t pull it out. One of you try to pull it out.” suggested Kon.
“Let me try first.” said Gwen. He dropped his shield down. He moved toward the sword. He rolled up his sleeves, grabbed on the hilt and pulled up. It didn’t move. He pulled harder, leaning back. “Agrrrr.” groaned Gwen. He tried his best. The sword showed no sign of moving. After minutes, he stopped, realeasing hands from the hilt.
“Uhmmm, I can’t pull it.” he said, scratching head, “Heracles, try it.” he added.
“Let me try.” said Heracles. He stepped forward. Heracles looked at the sword for a bit then he held the hilt by one hand then two hands. Heracles pulled. He started to use strength, more and more. Initially, the sword didn’t move at all. Heracles pulled harder. He didn’t give up. Suddenly, the sword moves a little. Heracles felt it and used more strength. Metallic sounded. The sword was slowly taken out from the rock.
“Ting-a-ling!” The sword was pulled out.
“Awesome, you did it Heracles.” yelled Kon happily.
“Honestly, you think we can fight again a dragon with those things.” said Gwen incredulously.
“Uhmmm, they are the best thing.” replied Kon.
Gwen pouted. He and Kon continued their conversion while Heracles was paying attention on other the thing, the sword Kon gave him. It’s an old sword. Heracles could see rust copper blue on its hilt. The sword was quite light and was wrapped in to a dark sheath. Heracles didn’t know what it is but it seemed light and durable. He tried to take the blade from its sheath but it seemed to be stuck. He used more strength but it didn’t move. “Hey Heracles,” Gwen suddenly called, “Don’t you think we should rest for a while? We have been going for a long time.” “Kon, how long we have to go to come to the place?” Gwen turned and asked.
“If you keep walking, you will come to the place at dawn.” said Kon. “You should rest here. If you go in forest deeper, you may meet scary creature there.” he added.
“Okay, we will stop here. Let’s set a fire Gwen.” said Heracles.
“Wait a moment. I will do it now.” Gwen said. He went around finding dry twigs. Kon followed and became a light for him. They quickly got big bunch of twigs, turned back. He piled up firewood then threw torches on. The firewood pile burnt, lighting up their place. Heracles, Gwen and Kon gathered around the fire. Rummaging his bag, Gwen took out a big piece of meat. He put a skewer through the meat and started baking it on the fire. “What are you doing?” asked Kon curiously.
“I'm grilling meat.” said Gwen.
“Meat.” said Kon innocently.
“Yes, meat – food, to eat.” said Gwen quickly. He prevented to put something in his mouth and chewed. “Later, I will give you a taste.” He added, smiling.
“Really! I look forward to it.” said Kon happily.
Fat boiled, slid out from the meat’s surface, dropped down the fire making sizzles.
“Frizz! Frizz!....”
Gwen sprinkled some salt on his baking meat. An attractive flavor came out. Heracles swallowed, Gwen looked on it satisfiedly while Kon stared at it with excited eyes. “Is it done?” Kon spoke up. His eyes still didn’t leave the meat.
“Wait a moment. It’s almost done.” said Gwen, smiling.
“Hurry up, Gwen!” said Heracles impatiently.
“It’s done.” said Gwen excitedly. The skewer of meat was taken out from fire, laid on a flat stone then was cut into slices. Kon quickly approached and stayed by Gwen. “Can I taste it first?” said Kon excitedly. “Of course,” said Gwen, took a slice up then gave to Kon, “Here take it.” he added. Kon quickly grabbed it, put it into his mouth and swallowed at one. “How does it taste?” Is it good?” asked Gwen. “I still don’t know its taste.” said Kon innocently. “Hahaha…” Heracles and Gwen looked to the other laughing. “You are too impatient Kon. Let’s chew it then swallow.” said Heracles. He took a slice, put in mouth, slowly chewed. Kon observed him carefully. He took another slice, put in mouth again, chewing. “How does it taste?” asked Heracles.
“It’s, good.” Kon said. He swallowed then took his hand to have others. He really liked them. Heracles, Gwen looked on him joyfully Kon behaved like a child. Then they also got serving and enjoyed it. The last slices promptly disappeared from the stone. Heracles and Gwen stayed still by their fire resting.
The silent darkness covered on everything. Blips came out from their fire. Heracles and Gwen had slept, lied curled up on ground next to it. Kon lazily lied on a branch rubbing his belly. He didn’t sleep. His body still spread out silver light. Then there were only breath sounds of Heracles and Gwen. Bright spots suddenly appeared, gathered and moved toward them. Kon sat up looking to the light spots. They slowly showed up. They were the other spirits existing inside the forest. Some were big having shapes of deer, rabbits, cats… Some were smaller and more crowded having shapes of fireflies, butterflies… They came from every direction. The light spreading out from them lit up a wide area. They all stopped few feet away from Heracles and Gwen. Deer bent down, carefully sniffed. Rabbits also sniffed while fireflies, butterflies fluttered above their faces. “They are friends.” said Kon. He left the branch, slowly flew down then landed next to Heracles and Gwen. The spirits were no longer on guard they gathered to Kon, stayed around them. “They are finding their friend. Let’s help them a bit.” added Kon. The spirits bowed. Fireflies above them lowered, moved around their faces then some of them swooped down, got through their forehead and disappeared. Some of them got into the swords, the helmet and the metal shield and also disappeared. Later, the butterflies fluttered down, clung their clothes then took them off the ground. They brought Heracles and Gwen up to deer’s backs then laid them on. “We will bring you to the place. Wish you have enough courage and luck.” said Kon to Heracles and Gwen. Though, they were in deep sleep. Kon and other spirits brought them to go. They moved in forest more deeply.
